Bondhusdalen

Bondhusdalen tutorial video:

Point 1: Marine border

In this area we can observe former sea bottom. After the last ice age, the weight of the glaciers had pushed the land down. When the glaciers melted the sea level rose, and flooded the land. The last 11 000 years after the weight of the glaciers was removed, the land has been slowly uplifted.Today this is used as farmland, and we can see where the sea used to lie in form of a endmorraine.

Point 2: Rock slides

We can observe a lot of inactive rock slides that probable took place just after the last ice age, one of them is believed to have dammed the bondhus lake. There are also newer active rock slides, they can be caused by frost weathering.

Point 3: Younger morraine rigdes

The last 300 years there have been periods of colder climate. The bondhus glacier would then grow and advance. We can observe smaller moraine ridges that can be dated. One of them are from between 1800-1890, which is the at the end of "the little ice age".
